I'm empty handed with palms up and the ghost of my boyfriend is behind me. I turn around to find him panting.

"I knew it!" I exclaim. "You're not dead because ghosts can't get out of breath! Why are you breathing hard anyway? Have you been running? Oh my gosh you spoke!"

I clamp my lips shut before more crazy blatherings of hysteria can escape my mouth in verbal form. My boyfriend ghost said one simple word, while I just shouted about one-hundred of them.

"Is she always like this?" Thad jerks a thumb in my direction.

"I take offense to that!" I pause, pondering what he's insinuating. "What am I supposedly like anyway?"

"A chatterbox. My chatterbox." My floating ghost of a boyfriend smiles and my whole world lights up. He called me his my! He's so sweet, even in less than substantial form.

"You can be a chatterbox too now, I see." My eyebrows raise expectantly. "You can talk and I can totally hear you."

"Yes, I can. And I have a lot of questions for you." Jason asks me about how he ended up here when all he remembers was being at the dance. I tell him and Thad about everything that happened after he disappeared from the school. "But I don't know why you're a ghost."

"It's part of the gorgon curse." Thad says. "If what you're telling us is true, then it sounds like Medusa's daughter Amelia is messing with powers she can't control."

How does he know all this? "So is she the one who can turn Jason solid again?"

Thad nods.

"And this room is sort of like your limboland, Kate." Jason gestures around. "It's in-between the mortal and godly realms."

"It is?"

Jason Ghost nods his head. "And it's been Thad's home for the past two years."

"You guys know each other?" I look from floating Jason to Thad and back again.

"Of course we do." Thad says. "We're in the same band together... at least... we used to be."

Okay. This is weird. I've met some of Jason's godly friends on Mount Olympus, but if this place is an in-between, I don't know where we are, what's going on, or who's who."

"How come you were out there just now?" I point at the door.

"I went looking for Thad, but I see you found him." Jason says.

"But you floated in here first when the room was dark, why didn't you help me find that light switch?" I tip my head questioningly at Jason. I'm getting all mixed up in the head and I think some proper explanations are in order. Sighing loudly, I sit down onto a statue that's shaped like a bench. Okay so really it's the statue of a man on all fours, and I'm now sitting on his back, but it's a flat (ish) surface, so it will have to do. "Would either of you care to explain?" I start ticking off questions on my fingers.

"A... what are we doing here? B... who are you really?" I glare at Thad, but look away when he returns that black stare.
